Dubai's really, really, strict drug laws.
(Jan 25 2009)

Dubai is one of the United Arab Emirates and is located in the Persian Gulf. It is a very popular with British people, who are attracted by the prospect of very low tax rates and good weather.

What is less known is that the country has extremely strict drug laws which catch out many visitors on what, to Westerners' eyes, may seem to be trivial offences, or indeed not illegal at all.

This first came to my attention when an ex-boss of mine, Cat Le-Huy was arrested for carrying jet-lag tablets. It took six weeks for him to be freed. Other people have been detained for carrying prescription codeine and having a handful of poppy seeds in their clothes.
